Silvia was born in Genova,Italy, where she learned to speak fluent Italian at home. At the age of three, she left Italy and started traveling and studying throughout the world living in 8 different countries and attending British and American schools until graduation in Athens Greece in 1987. In 1988, she moved to Caracas, Venezuela where she honed and mastered her Spanish speaking skills and worked for various companies in Caracas and Puerto La Cruz, at one time running her own car rental business catering to high end clients at resorts in the coastal beach town of Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela.
In 1995, she moved to the United States and started working as a paralegal for companies and lawfirms in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, FL. During her tenure with the lawfirms, she assisted the partners and associates with various translation and interpretation projects. From this experience, she gained an interest in starting her own freelance business and has been doing so for a number of years.
As owner of Tropical Translations, Silvia is keenly interested in providing the best quality of work possible to her clients and providers. She is a member in good standing of the American Translators Association (ATA), and the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Florida (ATIF), as well as an active Notary for the State of Florida and a member of the National Notary Association (NNA). She is an avid user of both Apple and Mac products and uses various programs to assist her with translation speed and accuracy.
Silvia enjoys traveling to new locales every year on her time off as well as learning about new cultures. She is in the process of learning Portuguese.
